“We love the idea of a film, but we’re terrible on camera.” If you only knew how often I hear that sentence. Almost every first conversation. And every time, I smile, because that’s exactly what I know how to handle.

Nobody’s comfortable at first

You’re not actors. You have no reason to be. Feeling awkward when a lens turns your way is the most natural reaction in the world.

The good news is that it doesn’t last. After about an hour, you forget. Your guests arrive, the emotions build, the day carries you away. And the camera becomes just another piece of furniture in the room.

My job is to be forgotten

I don’t direct your wedding. I don’t ask you to redo your entrance, to pose, or to look at the lens. I stay in the background, I capture what’s actually happening, and I let you live your day.

That’s the whole point of my approach, discreet and natural: the less you feel my presence, the more authentic the images. A great wedding film isn’t a couple who poses well. It’s a couple who was so completely themselves that they forgot they were being filmed.

The most beautiful images are the ones you don’t see coming

The look you exchange without realising it during a speech. The burst of laughter that breaks out in the group photo. Your mother’s hand squeezing yours. Those moments can’t be performed. And they’re the ones that make people cry ten years later.

The couples who call themselves “not photogenic” are often the ones who give me the most touching films. Because they don’t put on a front. Because they’re real.

A tip: get to know each other before the big day

If the idea of a camera makes you uneasy, the best remedy is simple: let’s talk beforehand. A call, a coffee, a few messages back and forth. On the day, I won’t be a stranger: just someone you already know a little, settled in a corner of the room.
